DeForest Buckner is going to remain a member of the Indianapolis Colts for at least the next three seasons.
Buckner, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, has agreed to a two-year extension with the Colts.
The extension is worth $46 million, making the three-time Pro Bowler one of the highest-paid defensive tackles in the NFL.
Buckner was due to hit free agency after the 2024 season. Instead, he receives a deal with the seventh-highest average annual value among defensive tackles, his $23 million a year putting him between Jeffery Simmons ($23.5 million) and Daron Payne ($22.5 million).
It is a richly deserved contract for Buckner, acquired in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020.
The Colts sent the 13th overall pick in that year's draft to land Buckner, and he has repaid their faith with a string of stellar seasons.
He has at least seven sacks in each of his four seasons with the Colts, though he has yet to top the career-high 12 he tallied of the 49ers in 2018.
Now signed through the 2026 season, Buckner will hope to continue having a huge impact for a Colts team clearly on the up after narrowly missing the playoffs in 2023.
