The Kansas City Chiefs only have one pick on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft after moving up in Round 1 to secure LSU CB Mansoor Delane.

The Chiefs’ other first-round draft pick, Clemson DT Peter Woods, seems to have an idea of what Brett Veach should do at pick No. 40. One of the biggest remaining needs in Kansas City comes at the edge rusher position. It just so happens that one of the best remaining players available at the position is a teammate of Woods’ at Clemson.

On Friday, April 24, Woods took to X (formerly Twitter) to send a message to Brett Veach. He posted a picture of himself and Clemson EDGE T.J. Parker celebrating. There’s no caption, but it’s pretty clear that Woods is excited to hear his teammate’s name called on Day 2.

If things fall a certain way, Parker could certainly be joining Woods in Kaansas City.

Chiefs GM Brett Veach can pair Peter Woods with his best friend, Clemson EDGE T.J. Parker

New Chiefs DT Peter Woods and his fellow Clemson teammate, T.J. Parker, were rivals in high school in Alabama. Parker played at Central High School, while Woods played for Thompson High School, where he made the Class 7A championship game throughout his time there.

They became much more than teammates when they joined up at Clemson under Dabo Swinney, though. They’re not just friends, but they’re bonded for life as family.

“That’s my dog, that’s one of my best friends, man,” Parker said in an interview with ACC Network. “We knew each other since high school. We played each other a couple of times. I didn’t win no state championship, but that’s all good. We always talk about going to the same school and teaming up. We wouldn’t think it will be closer. I was thinking of a different school, and it just happened that he committed to Clemson, and a month later, I committed to Clemson.”

The two have helped hold each other accountable during their time with the Tigers, both on and off the field. Whether it’s offseason training or academics, the pair is thick as thieves.

“Every goal we set from our Freshman year, we hit ’em,” Parker said. “We graduated and we declared after three years. We held ourselves accountable and spent so much time together during the offseason and training. That’s just family. I’m happy for him. I can’t wait to hear his name get called, too.”

Parker is still available on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft, but will he last to Kansas City at pick No. 40? Should he last that long, the Chiefs will have an opportunity to reunite two best friends.
