The Kansas City Chiefs are AFC West champions for the ninth consecutive season after defeating the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14. The win is sure sweet, but the team didn't get out of the hard-fought victory unscathed.

During the fourth quarter of the game, the Chiefs lost CB Joshua Williams to the NFL's concussion protocol after he made a big tackle. He got up rather woozy from the play and was escorted to the sideline. He went into the blue medical tent with the NFL-independent neuro consultant and was quickly escorted to the locker room. He was never formally ruled questionable or even out of the game, but he did not return.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the only injury for Kansas City. New Chiefs LT D.J. Humphries pulled up lame after a two-yard run in the fourth quarter. He went down on one knee before walking off the field gingerly. It looked like he might have simply pulled a hamstring in the game after having not played in a game since Week 16 last season.

Typically, Chiefs HC Andy Reid will start off his postgame press conferences with a brief update on the injury situation. But media members did not hear his common turn of phrase on Sunday: "As far as the injuries go. . ." Reid left the injury situation a bit of a mystery, at least until media members speak to him on his Monday afternoon call.

Should either injury keep the players out for Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns, the team has options. Nazeeh Johnson replaced Williams, while Wanya Morris replaced Humphries. He's likely the next in line for snaps. The team could also rely on a bit of a blast from the past in former Chiefs CB Steven Nelson, who they're slated to bring in for a free-agent visit this week.

As for Humphries, the team seemed to trust Morris in his absence. There's no reason to believe that he wouldn't be the next man up for Kansas City should Humphries be unable to suit up in Cleveland. Chiefs fans will keep their fingers crossed that his injury was only minor and that he'll be able to get back out there on Sunday.
