The Los Angeles Rams have made it a habit of finding several undrafted free agent steals in recent years, with talents like Darious Williams, Omar Speights, and Rodney McLeod in recent years all developing into starting-caliber players for the team over the years.

Now, they might have just done so yet again, and this time at a major position of need.

Buffalo linebacker Shaun Dolac went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft but was quickly scooped up as an undrafted free agent signing by the Rams shortly after the draft ended.

The first consensus All-American in Buffalo history, Dolac led the country with 168 tackles and was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. That kind of production is hard to miss, as it ranks 10th all-time in the FBS for a single season.

Dolac is more than just tackles, however, as he led the MAC in interceptions this season and also posted intriguing athletic testing results.

The lack of size is noticeable from the get-go, but you'd rather see a small linebacker test well than not test well, and he certainly did that.

It's also evident on film that Dolac fits the kind of mold that has worked well for the Rams over time, with his competitive toughness and energetic play style.

Given that the Rams already have their starting linebackers in Omar Speights and fifth-round rookie Chris "Pooh" Paul, Dolac will have to compete with Troy Reeder, Nate Landman, Elias Neal, and Tony Fields II for the last couple of roster spots in this room.

To do that, he'll have to prove himself on special teams, similar to what kept Jake Hummel on the roster for several years. Hummel led the team in special teams snaps in 2023 and 2024, and he made a key punt block for a touchdown that lifted the Rams over the Buffalo Bills last season.

Dolac will have to cut his teeth there to find snaps on the Rams, but he checks off all of the boxes that they look for with his production, athleticism, and toughness. He feels like the most likely UDFA candidate to make the Rams' roster when its time for the 53-man cutdown.
