The Los Angeles Rams gave DT Poona Ford a three year $29.6 million contact this offseason. They showed their belief in him as a player and he is working hard to prove them right early into training camp. His new teammates and head coach have taken notice and it seems they are expecting a fantastic return on their investment.

Ford has bounced around a bit over his seven-year NFL career. Last year with the Chargers, he seemed to really come into his own as a player, and you could see his confidence grow throughout the season, which led the Rams to swoop in to land the DT. Last season, he tied his career highs in sacks with three and tackles for loss with eight. His ability to be very reliable against the run has been a staple for him so far in his career. Entering the 2025 season, though, he wants to prove he can also be a great pass rusher out of the interior. Rams offensive lineman Kevin Dotson shared how impressed he’s been by Ford after competing with him every day in practice. “He’s nice,” Dotson said with a giant smile. “He’s great against run block and surprisingly quick in the pass, so he has everything.”

It’s not just teammates that Ford is making a strong first impression on. Head coach Sean McVay had some significant praise to share on what he’s seen from one of his team’s big signings in free agency this offseason. “He’s a complete player,” said McVay, “it’s hard to find a play he’s not productive on.” Regarding his role, it sounds like McVay believes there are some big plans for Ford this season. “He certainly isn’t limited to just the early downs.”
