Miami waived QB Skylar Thompson on Saturday. The move leaves the Dolphins with just two quarterbacks on the roster in Tua Tagovailoa and Tyler Huntley.
Thompson, a seventh-round draft pick by the Dolphins in 2022, appeared in 10 games over the last three years. He drew the start in the 2022-23 playoffs against the Buffalo Bills. He completed 18 of 45 attempts for 220 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions in the Dolphins' 34-31 loss in the Wild Card round. For his career, he's completed 81 of 138 attempts for 721 yards with a touchdown and 3 interceptions.
The Dolphins made some other moves that tip off where things stand for the team's roster going into Sunday's game against Houston. T Ryan Hayes is being elevated, which could be a sign that the prospects of Kendall Lamm – who is listed as questionable for the game – being able to play are shaky at best. LS Zach Triner's elevation also means that Blake Ferguson likely won't be able to go. Grant DuBose's return will help fill the roster spot vacated when the team and Odell Beckham, Jr. parted ways last week.
Neither Bradley Chubb nor Cameron Goode have been activated from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list despite practicing for a second straight week.
The Dolphins and Texans get underway on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET from NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
