The Miami Dolphins assistant coaches spoke to the South Florida media on Tuesday. It marked the first time that we’ve had a chance to hear from many of these coaches as the 2026 Dolphins embark on a fresh start.

One of the Miami Dolphins’ most compelling hires under new head coach Jeff Hafley? Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Patullo’s offense in 2025 drew plenty of ire from Eagles fans. But Hafley has explained this offseason that Patullo, who will serve as the passing game coordinator in 2026, is set to offer move value than just an offensive assistant.

And Tuesday brought Patullo a chance to explain his perspective on building an offense from the ground up.

“All five years in Philadelphia, I had such a handle on a lot of different things. I was assistant head coach and then I was part OC throughout my entire time there, and even last year. I was so heavily involved in a lot of things. I think just the experience of going through that from building a program up from (2021) into this past year and obviously they’ll continue to do that. Just seeing what goes into it, right?

When you have a new roster, you’re trying to set a new culture in place, you’re trying to set a new offense in place is going through that and what it takes each year to kind of get to that level. You know, we went to two Super Bowls, won two NFC championships. It’s what goes into that. It takes a lot.”

Patullo’s going to be involved in helping Jeff Hafley with some of the game day responsibilities this year (per Hafley). And his perspective of building an offense from the ground floor should offer some parallels to the Miami Dolphins’ “ground floor” effort on offense.

The results in South Florida will take time. No one seems to expect anything otherwise. But this group of young talent gives the Miami Dolphins plenty of variables to explore. The objective is simple: find talents to tie their identity to as things move forward from here. Patullo, in this same interview, explained that at the end of the day, it is all about the players. Putting them in positions to be successful is key.

With an offensive that’s being assembled from scratch, tailoring an offense should be a fun process to watch unfold.
