The full numbers are in on the Miami Dolphins’ three-year contract extension for center Aaron Brewer
We now know the full terms of the Miami Dolphins’ three-year contract extension on center Aaron Brewer.
They say that all good things come to those who wait. I don’t know if it is true or not. But I do know it felt like we were waiting as long for the full terms of the Miami Dolphins’ contract extension with center Aaron Brewer as Brewer himself had to wait to get it.
Okay. That’s not true. But Brewer and the Dolphins agreed to terms on his three-year, $52.5 million contract extension in the second week of June. And the full terms of the contract were not published by the time the calendar turned to July. They’re here now, though. OverTheCap.com has published the full terms of Miami’s extension — here’s what you need to know.

Brewer’s scheduled compensation before his three-year extension was signed sat at $6.97 million for the 2026 season. With the extension in full effect, Brewer is going to receive a grand total of $12.465 million in cash instead. That’s a raise of $5.495 million for this season. That money is fully guaranteed.
So, too, is Aaron Brewer’s 2027 compensation, which totals $14,135,000. There is a $25,000 workout bonus that is not guaranteed — the rest of his pay next year is.
Beyond 2027, Brewer’s salary is not guaranteed. He does have $4.425 million in 2028 salary that becomes guaranteed on March 15th of 2028. So Miami will enter into a proverbial “pay as you play” approach starting in 2028.
How does Brewer’s compensation effect the Miami Dolphins’ salary cap? As a part of Brewer’s 2026 raise, he received a $6,000,000 signing bonus, which was spread out equally against five years of salary cap accounting. That would have raised his cap charge this year by $1.2 million, but Brewer had a $25,000 workout bonus and $480,000 in ‘per-game active’ bonuses this year that were rolled into that signing bonus — so those actually come off of Brewer’s pre-existing cap charge for this season. Here’s the final tally.
Aaron Brewer’s new 2026 salary cap charge with the Miami Dolphins
$4,947,000 (original cap charge) + $1,200,000 (one-fifth of $6 million signing bonus) – $480,000 (per-game active bonus no longer scheduled) – $25,000 (workout bonus no longer scheduled)
= $5,642,000 is the new 2026 cap charge for Aaron Brewer
Brewer’s salary cap charges for the 2027 through 2029 seasons will range between $18.5 million and $20.6 million — although those marks are fixed with large base salaries. Those figures could be converted into bonuses to manufacture significant amounts of salary cap space in any given year. That is, of course, if Miami chooses to do business that way once again.
But that’s a story for another day. The story for today is that we finally have the full terms of Brewers’ deal with the Dolphins. It features a $695,000 increase in the salary cap charge for 2026, it features a $5,495,000 raise this season, and it keeps Miami’s best offensive lineman in-house long-term. There are also, per OverTheCap.com, $1.8 million in total incentives available on this contract as well, although those are not publicly published as of this time.
All good things to those who wait. Namely Aaron Brewer, who should come out of this deal feeling like a winner.
