There is a fascinating group of prospects available at the top of the NFL Draft for the Minnesota Vikings. They could go in a multitude of different directions. Tight end looks fascinating with Kenyon Sadiq, linebacker could be tempting with C.J. Allen, and there are multiple wide receivers who they could select.

One position that hasn’t gotten talked about enough is edge rusher. Jonathan Greenard’s future is still in doubt, and Andrew Van Ginkel is a free agent after the season. It would be wise for them to get some kind of depth at the position in the NFL Draft. How they end up doing so will be a very interesting watch.

Greg Cosell unintentionally makes the case for Keldric Faulk to be the Vikings selection at 18th overall

One of the more intriguing prospects in the NFL Draft is Keldric Faulk of the Auburn Tigers. He might be an edge rusher, but he’s built more like a 3-4 defensive end than a traditional pass rusher. His build and play style have legendary film analyst Greg Cosell thinking that Faulk should be used like Richard Seymour.

“I’m going to make a comparison here, which is not exact at all. When I watched Falk, I thought of Bill Belichick and how he would use a guy like Keldrick Falk. Because we’re dealing with a guy that’s 6-6, 276 [pounds], really long arms, a monstrous wingspan. I almost felt like in a Bill Belichick defense, he would be similar, and he doesn’t weigh as much, but similar to a Richard Seymour. He could play [defensive] end, he could play [defensive] tackle. You could play him in different spots. He’s not a pure pass rusher in the sense that, Seymour wasn’t a pure pass rusher. Obviously, Seymour is a Hall of Famer. I know that. That’s why I said I hope people don’t just think I’m saying he gives Richard Seymour, but I think stylistically, he’s more like that than a pure edge player.”

That type of player is an interesting one to add to Brian Flores’ defense. He loves to be versatile and has made it his top priority. It might be slightly redundant to add Faulk when you have a similar player in Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, but the profile is sincerely fascinating to add, with his length and pass rush flashes. He doesn’t have an elite pass rush arsenal at this point, but he’s shown it’s worth developing.

With a bevy of options at their disposal, Faulk could be a good one at 18th overall or with a trade down.
