Minnesota Vikings Schedule Release: The Vikings have a chance to improve one of the NFL’s best records
One year after playing two international series games in Europe, the Minnesota Vikings are heading to Mexico City.
The NFL is a big fan of sending the Minnesota Vikings overseas for football games. Head coach Kevin O’Connell has coached in four games during his first four seasons with the Vikings. His experience will come in handy this season.
On Wednesday morning, the NFL officially announced their international games and the Vikings will be heading to Mexico City, Mexico on Sunday, November 22nd to face the San Francisco 49ers.
Minnesota Vikings to play San Francisco 49ers in Mexico City
It’s a big game for the Vikings to be in. They played in back-to-back international series games last year, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland, then getting a win over the Cleveland Browns in London, England.
They have played in six international series games prior to the 2026 season, with a 5-1 to show for it.
| Year | Location | Team | Result | Score | Record |
| 2013 | London | Steelers | Win | 34-27 | 1-0 |
| 2017 | London | Browns | Win | 33-16 | 2-0 |
| 2022 | London | Saints | Win | 28-25 | 3-0 |
| 2024 | London | Jets | Win | 23-17 | 4-0 |
| 2025 | Dublin | Steelers | Loss | 24-21 | 4-1 |
| 2025 | London | Browns | Win | 21-17 | 5-1 |
This will be the fifth NFL game played in Mexico City. The first game saw the Oakland Raiders beat the Houston Texans 27-20 in 2016. There was supposed to be a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. Unfortunately, the turf was deemed too poor, and the game was moved to the Los Angeles Memorial Colosseum. You may remember that game as the legendary Monday night shootout won by the Rams 54-51.
The 49ers have only played in three international series, but have won them all, with their last being a 38-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. They will also be facing the Los Angeles Rams in Australia to start the season, giving them two games overseas.
With the game in Mexico City and All Elite Wrestling dropping lucha masks for all 32 teams in April, questions need to be asked about a possible appearance in Arena Mexico as a potential cross-promotional event. They have CMLL shows every Friday night, and it could be another way for the league to continue integrating within the culture.
The entire schedule is announced on Thursday at 7 P.M. CT.
