The inevitable has happened as Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance against the Atlanta Falcons in a 42-21 victory.

This is the second major award that Darnold has won this season after being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month in September.

When you watched the game on Sunday, it was obvious why the Vikings got the win. Darnold was on fire against the Falcons, completing 22-28 for 347 yards and five touchdowns with a near-perfect passer rating of 157.9. It was just the seventh time in franchise history that the Vikings had a quarterback throw five or more touchdowns and the first time since Daunte Culpepper threw five touchdowns three times in the first five weeks in 2004.

Darnold wasn't just playing well, he was on fire this past Sunday, throwing deep and with anticipation.

Darnold made four big time throws without a single turnover worthy play and his ability to attack down the field has been incredible all season, but more so in this game.

If you haven't gotten on the Darnold train yet, I'd recommend it now.
