FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The New England Patriots welcomed the entire rookie class to Gillette Stadium for the start of rookie minicamp on Friday.

Head coach Mike Vrabel was out there with all the players, as they looked to make an early impression and prove themselves.

Here are A to Z Sports' 5 Takeaways from Rookie Minicamp

1. Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson was the only player absent

TreVeyon Henderson, who the Patriots selected with their second round pick, was the only playing missing in action during rookie minicamp.

It's not clear at the moment why he was not there, but he is among three players who have yet to sign their rookie contracts. Left tackle Will Campbell and safety Craig Woodson are the other two, but they were both in attendance.

2. Mike Vrabel's hands-on coaching style was on full display

Vrabel is known as the type of coach who likes to be very involved with all the players, whether it's throwing on a pad or putting on a pinny and playing some linebacker.

He jumped around to every single position group, keeping an eye on all the players.

3. Keeping a close eye on Will Campbell

When the offensive line drills started, reporters rushed over to get their first look at the team's first round pick, offensive tackle Will Campbell.

As for Jared Wilson, who the Patriots selected in the third round, head coach Mike Vrabel has said that he is open to moving Wilson to guard if the situation comes up.

But as for the first day of minicamp, Campbell practiced at left tackle, while Wilson remained in the middle at center.

4. UDFA RB Lan Larison getting some one-on-one coaching from Mike Vrabel

With Henderson absent, it allowed for Lan Larison to get some additional reps.

Larison is also was wearing No. 34, bringing back memories of running back Rex Burkhead.

The Patriots gave the UC David running back a $175K total guaranteed contract, which includes a $25,000 signing bonus, showing that they clearly see he has a lot of potential. Larison is currently viewed as one of the favorites in the UDFA class to potentially earn a spot on the 53-man roster.

5. Veteran players made an appearance

Along with all the rookies, there were three second-year players at the practice.

Receiver John Jiles, cornerback Miles Battle, and defensive lineman Truman Jones all took part in drills, but it was Jiles who truly impressed. Mike Vrabel even took a moment to congratulate him after a nice catch.

6. Kyle Williams is already making a strong impression

Kyle Williams, who the Patriots selected in the third round, was able to make himself standout during the practice. Specifically, the former Washington State receiver had a nice catch along the sidelines along with a contested catch in the middle of the field.

7. Terrell Williams missing from rookie minicamp

Prior to the start of the session, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel told reports that defensive coordinator Terrell Williams would not be out there as he is dealing with a "health scare."

Williams then spoke with reporters after, saying that he is currently in Detroit, but is still in communication with the coaching staff and all the players.
