Drake Maye's impressive rookie season continues.
The New England Patriots quarterback is headed to the Pro Bowl Games, the team announced on Tuesday.
Maye is replacing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who opted out of the Pro Bowl, per Ari Meirov.
Maye finished the season going 225 of 338 for 2,276 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns along with 54 carries for 421 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
In an otherwise poor season for the Patriots, Maye continued to be a positive and proved that the future is bright.
Since Tom Brady left the Patriots, the team has now drafted two quarterbacks: Mac Jones and Maye.
Jones, under the direction of Josh McDaniels, also earned a spot in the 2021 Pro Bowl Games during his rookie season. But when McDaniels left to take the head coaching job with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jones took a serious decline. And the result was him ultimately getting traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars to serve as a backup quarterback to Trevor Lawrence.
Now, it's Maye's turn. But the Patriots are hoping for a different outcome this time. However, the current New England quarterback does have better staff, whereas Jones was left with Matt Patricia. McDaniels has experience working with young quarterbacks and also knows what it takes to win.
That's a recipe for success.
The Pro Bowl games will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2.
