The New England Patriots are set to enter uncharted territory.
For the first time in 24 years, they will begin the search for a new head coach, but first the head coach will say goodbye.
Owner Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick will hold a press conference together on Thursday at Gillette Stadium at 12 p.m. ET. A to Z Sports will be there in person and have live reports throughout.
Thursday morning is when the news broke from Gillette Stadium, with Belichick out as head coach of the Patriots.
It has been heading in this direction since the struggles this season began, but now it is official.
Belichick brought six Super Bowl championships to Foxborough, but Kraft decided it was time to head in a different direction.
And following Sunday's season finale loss to the New York Jets, Belichick spoke to reporters and appeared to put the ball in Kraft's court.
"So, I'm under contract, do what I always do, which is every day I come in and work as hard as I can to help the team in whatever way I can. So, that's what I'm going to continue to do," Belichick said. "So, as far as any decisions or direction or anything like that for next year, it's way too early for that."
However, what cannot be overlooked is the fact that Kraft and Belichick will speak together, proving that they were able to come to this decision together.
