Grading the Saints pick: Kellen Moore handpicks hidden gem that the NFL probably overlooked on day two of NFL Draft
Kellen Moore just added a unique chess piece for the New Orleans Saints passing game. Tyler Shough has a new target, and he will also help the run game going forward.
The New Orleans Saints attacked both needs and depth on day two of the 2026 NFL Draft. Their latest selection ahead of day three of the draft could be a hidden gem that has been underrated throughout the process.
Saints select Georgia TE Oscar Delp in round three of 2026 NFL Draft
The Saints selected Georgia Bulldogs tight end Oscar Delp with the 73rd overall pick in this year’s draft. Delp is an ultra-physical offensive weapon who many believe can build on his lackluster college production with development in the pros.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore certain has a plan for him and expects that he will make an impact for years to come in New Orleans.
Delp can still be unlocked in the NFL
Kyle Crabbs of A to Z Sports broke down Delp’s skillset and potential entering the league. His blend of blocking willingness and pure athleticism at his size could meld into a unique target and chess piece for the Saints.
Georgia Bulldogs tight end Oscar Delp has become one of the darlings of the draft community this offseason. It’s easy to see why the enthusiasm exists when you inspect his athletic profile and the flashes of run-after ability that Delp shows with the ball in his hands. The Georgia passing offense was severely limited over the past several seasons, preventing Delp from breaking out in the box score. But that time on task has allowed him to develop his in-line blocking skills, and he should have enough baseline ability to command snaps early, despite not having prototypical in-line size. I love his demeanor as a blocker and his interest in earning additional yardage for his offense with the ball in his hands. He’s certainly not Brock Bowers, but he can do some Brock Bowers-esque things. I’d suspect it won’t take long for his NFL production to surpass his Georgia production in the passing game.

Six tight ends were taken before Delp in this year’s draft. He was one of eight TEs selected on day two.
The Georgia product has already met Saints first-round WR Jordyn Tyson. The two actually worked out together the past couple months leading up to the draft. He thinks that Tyson is a baller.
“Oscar Delp was drafted in round 3 with pick 73 in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 9.83 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 26 out of 1471 TE from 1987 to 2026.” — @MathBomb on X/Twitter
