With the process of the NFL Draft, teams are forced to trim down their rosters following the process. This normally includes roster bubble pieces getting released, in hopes of a fresh start elsewhere.

While the Saints are not in a rush to get to a 53-man roster right now, you have to take steps in that direction over the course of the offseason. Their latest set of moves included letting go a pass catcher who hoped to be in the fold going forward. The Saints spent three draft picks on wide receivers.

Saints release WR Samori Toure after short stint with team

According to m multiple reports, the Saints are releasing wide receiver Samori Toure. He was signed in November of 2025 and was prepared to be with the team in 2026 on a futures deal.

This move follows the additions of first-round WR Jordyn Tyson and fourth-round WR Bryce Lance. Tyson is a projected starter, while Lance could also see some playing time as a rookie as well.

New Orleans also drafted WR/returner Barion Brown from LSU. The speedster will almost certainly play a special teams role in year one. For Toure, he was simply the first odd man out at the position.

“Toure joined the Saints practice squad on Nov. 25, after spending three weeks on the Denver Broncos practice squad and spending the 2024 campaign on the Chicago Bears practice squad. In 2021 at Nebraska, after playing three seasons at Montana, Toure recorded 46 receptions for 898 yards (19.5 avg.) with five touchdowns and carried eight times for 63 yards with one touchdown.” — New Orleans Saints team website

The Saints also released running back Evan Hull and tight end Elijah Cooks. Hull was a depth RB for New Orleans to finish last season after the offense lost Devin Neal and Kendre Miller to injuries.
