A Giants star was shockingly left off the 2025 Pro Bowl roster and there’s no logical explanation for him being snubbed
Was Andrew Thomas unfairly snubbed from the 2025 Pro Bowl?
The New York Giants will only have one player representing the franchise this year in the Pro Bowl. Elite pass rusher Brian Burns earned the nod with his dominant 15-sack season.
During a disappointing, two-win season, it’s not shocking to see only one player head to the event. However, when you consider there is another Giants star who’s been one of the best at his position in the NFL, it’s perplexing that he was omitted. I’m of course referring to left tackle Andrew Thomas.
Giants LT Andrew Thomas snubbed from Pro Bowl
Thomas missed the beginning of the Giants’ 2025 season, but immediately dominated once he stepped into the lineup. His consistency elevated an offensive line that was atrocious at the start of the year.
Although Thomas left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, it won’t affect the scope of his reliability in 2025. Per Pro Football Focus, Thomas has only allowed one sack all season long, which is tied for the fifth fewest in the NFL among offensive tackles. His two quarterback hits allowed are tied for the tenth fewest, and 10 quarterback pressures are the second fewest. Additionally, he has the second-fewest quarterback pressures allowed, with 13.
PFF grades don’t mean everything, but Thomas was graded as the eighth-best run-blocking offensive tackle in the NFL. He was also the third-highest graded pass-blocking offensive tackle, along with being the third-highest graded tackle overall.
The only counterargument that goes against Thomas is that he did not play a full season. However, his elite play is undeniable for the Lisfranc injury he recovered from. To have immediately stepped in and played at such a high level, even after a complicated injury, for an offensive lineman, is a testament to his talent.
The 2025 NFC Pro Bowl roster features Penei Sewell from the Lions, Tristan Wirfs from the Bucs, and Trent Williams from the 49ers. Of those players, Thomas is higher in pressures allowed than all of them, as Williams has allowed 32, Sewell has allowed 18, and Wirfs has allowed 22. In terms of sacks allowed, Williams has four, Sewell has one, and Wirfs has two.
The one player who Thomas should have absolutely earned it over was Williams, considering the massive gap in their numbers. Sadly, this is the reality of having an underperforming football team. It’s naturally difficult for offensive linemen to get recognition when the team is playing poorly overall.
