Jaxson Dart finds himself on a list every NFL player wants to be on and it will end the Giants’ playoff drought if it happens
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Jaxson Dart heading into 2026 to the point where some believe there’s a possibility the Giants quarterback can be the NFL’s next MVP.
John Harbaugh was a big addition for the New York Giants, but the team is only going to go as far as Jaxson Dart can take it.
That’s the case for just about every QB-team relationship, yet the point still stands. The Giants need Dart to live up to expectations or else they’ll definitely find themselves picking in the top-10, again.
Dart is coming off a strong rookie season and he’s in good hands with Harbaugh and Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy leading the way. He also has a pretty good supporting cast around him to where taking a step forward should be no issue as long as everyone stays healthy, of course.
Could he turn in an MVP-worthy season, though? One media outlet believes he could.
Bleacher Report labels Jaxson Dart as an under-the-radar MVP candidate
Dart was recently named an under-the-radar candidate by BR, but I’m not so sure. For one, the kid has to stay healthy or else there’s zero chance he wins the award. As we saw last year, that’ll take some changes to his game and the adjustment could affect his production, to an extent.
But just in general, I don’t think Dart is ready for that. Sure, we saw Drake Maye almost take an MVP-sized leap forward last year after he barely lost to Matthew Stafford, but there were a lot of different dynamics at play (easy schedule, top-notch OC in Josh McDaniels, etc.) that led to the final outcome.
The Giants will obviously break their three-year playoff drought if Dart does play at an MVP pace, though. There’s no way a quarterback, or any other player, is in that discussion if his team is losing games/behind the 8-ball in any fashion.
Jaxson Dart’s rookie stats
The Giants drafted Dart with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He had a solid rookie year and finished with some impressive numbers for a first-year QB.
- Passing yards: 2,272
- Passing completion: 63.7%
- Passing TDs: 15
- Interceptions: 5
- QBR: 57.5
- Rushing yards: 487
- Rushing touchdowns: 9
- Yards per carry: 5.7
- Games played: 14
Per DraftKings, Dart has +4500 odds to win MVP, tied with guys like Baker Mayfield and ahead of names like Bijan Robinson. He has the 19th-best odds, both as an overall player and quarterback, to win the award.
While unlikey, it’s not impossible. We’ve seen crazier things happen before. I mean, look at what the New York Knicks just did.
