Latest NFL Draft rumors throw massive curveball with New York Jets No. 2 overall pick as a new favorite emerges
The New York Jets control the 2026 NFL Draft as the wildcard team in the first round with the No. 2 overall pick, and rumors
The 2026 NFL Draft is just two weeks away, and the intel and rumors are pouring in for the New York Jets.
The New York Jets control the draft with two picks in the first round, including the No. 2 overall pick. Everyone knows the Las Vegas Raiders are taking Fernando Mendoza, but who will the Jets take?
They’ve been linked to Arvell Reese for weeks now, but things just took a drastic change with a new favorite.
The New York Jets are being heavily linked to EDGE David Bailey at No. 2 overall
The NFL Draft is almost here, and this is the time where rumors and clarity emerge. It seemed like the Jets’ pick was in at No. 2 overall with LB/EDGE Arvell Reese being the selection. Now, EDGE David Bailey is the new favorite. Bailey could actually be the guy, and it’s not a secret according to insiders Todd McShay and Albert Breer.
“It’s not really a secret,” McShay said. “It sounds like, if the information is right, that David Bailey is going to be the guy at number two. Is that where you’re hearing?”
“I actually talked to a couple of teams that almost talked to like it was a fait accompli,” Breer said. “Now, we’ll see. You know, the information gets better a little better as you get closer to the draft, and these guys are coming out of their meetings. But, you know, there’s an interesting way to tie this to Aaron Glenn’s job security too. I think if you look at Arvell Reese, he’s a little bit more of a project and a little bit more of a he’s gonna be pretty good for you right away. But you know, you may have to wait a year or two to get the best out of him. Versus like David Bailey is out of the box going to be a really good pass rusher for you.”
McShay and Breer aren’t the only ones to say this, as Peter Schrager mocked David Bailey to the Jets at No. 2 overall based off what he’s heard around the league. Insider Daniel Jeremiah agreed with Schrager on their show together, and there’s way too much smoke to ignore.
The New York Jets can’t get this pick wrong
The debate between Reese and Bailey will be intense from now until the Jets are on the clock, where they have to get this pick right. It does feel like the same situation as years ago when Travon Walker with the higher athletic profile went ahead of Aidan Hutchinson, who was the more polished pass rusher.
Reglardless if the Jets are trying to rebuild for the future or win now, they have to take the better player who can take them over the top. They still need to fix the rest of the roster, including their franchise QB, who could be the pick at No. 16 overall.
