There was a time when the subject revolving around George Pickens was when he would receive a contract extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
As we head into that season of the calendar, no extension is in sight for George Pickens, as whether or not he will even be on the team in 2025 has come into question.
Regardless of whether he stays for the upcoming season or not, though, it's looking like 2025 will be his last…
George Pickens not expected in Pittsburgh beyond 2025
I do not expect him to be here beyond this year. They will not give him a second contract. They have until November if they want to trade him. Look, they got a number two for former Steelers receiver Chase Claypool. Maybe they can snooker another NFL team and get a number two for George Pickens.

A lot of the recent rumors surrounding George Pickens being traded started when he unfollowed the Steelers on Instagram. That led many to believe that Pickens was unhappy with his contract situation, though that doesn't seem to be the case…
"There was a little bit of smoke going on at the draft but I was told that Pickens in the end wants to be in Pittsburgh," said ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "He loves Mike Tomlin and wants to be part of things here in Pittsburgh."
While I do not doubt that Pickens wants to be with the Steelers in 2025, it's very clear that they are at least interested in what other teams have to offer. The Dallas Cowboys were linked to Pickens during the draft, didn't draft a WR, and still have a huge need in that room.
If we get to training camp and they become desperate enough to throw a second-round pick the Steelers' way, there's still a world where Pickens doesn't make it to the 2025 Steelers season, much less 2026.
“His time in Pittsburgh, in a lot of people’s minds, is limited,” James Palmer of Bleacher Report said. “It has not gone well behind the scenes between George Pickens and the Pittsburgh Steelers and everybody involved. And this is leading up to, could he play for them in 2025? Certainly could. Would he be departing after this season? Yes, in a lot of people’s minds.”
