Updated list of San Francisco 49ers 2026 NFL Draft picks following first-round trades with Miami Dolphins and New York Jets
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch put on a master class for adding critical value in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Two trades later, where does that leave the 49ers? They’re in prime position to keep adding picks and saving cap space as round two kicks off on Friday.
The San Francisco 49ers had an eventful night one of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, after multiple trades, they still came away with zero selected prospects through first round. What now? And how many picks do they have throughout the rest of the NFL Draft? Let’s dive in.
San Francisco 49ers trades added value and an extra NFL Draft pick
As the 49ers’ pick approached on Thursday night, it began to leak to the public that San Francisco was looking to trade back, and that’s exactly what general manager John Lynch did. In the span of just four picks, the 49ers made two trades:
Trade 1
49ers sent: Pick 27, Pick 138
Dolphins sent: Pick 30, Pick 90
Trade 2
49ers sent: Pick 30
Jets sent: Pick 33, Pick 179
Given that the 49ers didn’t feel that any player presented “must-draft” value at 27 or 30, they clearly won the trades. They moved up 48 spots from 138 to 90, and added pick 179 as well. When the 2026 NFL Draft began, the 49ers had just six picks. Now they’re back up to seven, and all of their rookie contracts are cheap.
In fact, just by moving from 27 to 33, the 49ers are saving six million dollars over the course of that player’s rookie contract, and more than a million dollars per year against the salary cap.
Updated San Francisco 49ers NFL Draft picks after trades with Dolphins and Jets
- Round 2, Pick 33 (via NYJ trade)
- Round 2, Pick 58
- Round 3, Pick 90 (via MIA trade)
- Round 4, Pick 127
- Round 4, Pick 133 (compensatory)
- Round 4, Pick 139 (compensatory)
- Round 5, Pick 179 (via NYJ trade)
The 49ers will now make three picks on the second day of 2026 NFL Draft action. The 49ers will then make four picks in the first half of the third day of NFL Draft action. That is, if they don’t just keep making trades.
Considering the strong position that Lynch has put his team in from a future rookie cap hit standpoint with his maneuvers already, the 49ers are only due to pay their entire rookie class (excluding signing bonuses) just 9.5 million dollars in 2026. That’s less than the Arizona Cardinals are going to count against the cap with running back (and third overall pick) Jeremiyah Love this year alone.
49ers fans shouldn’t be surprised to see Lynch continue adding picks on night two of NFL Draft action.
Who could the 49ers select to kick off the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft?
If the 49ers do choose to hold on to their pick 33 overall, who could they likely select?
Cornerback Jermod McCoy (Tennessee), safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Toledo), defensive tackle Kayden McDonald (Ohio State), cornerback Avieon Terrell (Clemson), and linebacker CJ Allen (Georgia) are the top five players available via the A to Z Sports NFL Mock Draft Simulator and many big boards.
After that, if ther 49ers want an edge or a wide receiver, there are plenty of options too. Denzel Boston (WR, Washington) is an “X” receiver with great height and length. T.J. Parker (Clemson), Cashius Howell (Texas A&M), and R Mason Thomas (Oklahoma) are all three extremely productive edge rushers.
The 49ers have their pick of an absolutely stacked group to start the second round. They might just decide they’re fine trading down once again.
