John Schneider and Seahawks are on the brink of losing one of their most important employees that’s been around for over a decade
Seahawks general manager John Schneider, like any NFL GM, needs a good supporting cast to do his job well. He’s built one of the league’s best front offices and it could lead to the exit of one of his top employees.
Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider has established himself as one of the NFL’s best GMs, if not the best.
He’s built one of the sturdiest front offices in the league and current Seahawks assistant general manager, Nolan Teasley, has been in the fold since he interned with the team in 2013.
Since then, Teasley has risen up the ranks to become assistant GM. Per the Seahawks’ website, Teasley is “in his 14th season with the Seahawks, fourth as assistant general manager, following five seasons as director of pro personnel (2018-22), one season as assistant director of pro personnel (2017) and three seasons as a pro personnel scout (2014-16).”
Well, Schneider might have to forge on without his right-hand man. Per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Teasley will interview with the Minnesota Vikings a second time and is considered a finalist for the open general manager position.
Previous reports mentioned the second round of interviews, but the word “finalist” was not attached to the five names. Therefore, Teasley could get the job once the week is over if he impresses more than the others.
The other four finalists are current Vikings interim general manager Rob Brzenzinski, Denver Broncos assistant GM Reed Burckhardt, Buffalo Bills assistant GM Terrance Gray, and Los Angeles Rams assistant GM John McKay.
“I don’t know who’s got more boxes they check than Nolan Teasley,” former NFL quarterback Brock Huard recently said on his show, Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk. “He’s done everything right alongside John, and he’s seen it done at a very, very, very high level.”
Notable players drafted during Nolan Teasley’s time in Seattle
Teasley has been with the Seahawks for a long time, so naturally, there is a long list of notable players drafted while he’s been in the fold. Below is the list, in chronological order, from 2014-2025:
- EDGE Frank Clark
- WR Tyler Lockett
- DL Jarran Reed
- CB Shaquill Griffin
- WR D.K. Metcalf
- LB Jordyn Brooks
- OL Charles Cross
- EDGE Boye Mafe
- CB Riq Woolen
- RB Kenneth Walker III
- CB Coby Bryant
- CB Devon Witherspoon
- WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba
- RB Zach Charbonnet
- DL Byron Young
- OL Grey Zabel
- S Nick Emmanwori
There is a bright side to Teasley’s departure: The Seahawks would receive two third-round compensatory picks since he is a minority advancing to the general manager position. Those picks would be available in the 2027 and 2028 draft, respectively. Teasley participated in the league’s Accelerator Program in May 2026.
Either way, we’ll know soon enough whether or not Teasley finishes out his 14th season or if he starts his first season as the Vikings GM.
