For whatever reason, people love making fake accounts of celebrities in hopes of spewing stupid stuff that can make their target look however they want.

There are some accounts out there that are worth the time and effort, but they’re innocent accounts that are primarily there for fun.

But most of them are like the one that posited itself as Tampa Bay Buccaneers Emeka Egbuka on Wednesday – dumb and pointless.

Someone created an X account and posted “Is CTE even real?”, prompting all kinds of engagement and reaction. It’s an account that was created back in May 2023 and has over seven thousand followers, it’s not like it was recently created, therefore it led people to think it was really him. It made Egbuka look bad, ultimately.

Fortunately, ESPN reporter Jenna Laine, and the Buccaneers themselves, busted the fake account and cleared Egbuka’s name:

Be sure you check who is saying stuff before pushing it out into the public. There are way too many fakes and dupes out there just waiting to cause trouble. Fortunately this was quickly shot down for Egbuka.
