Grading The Pick: The Tennessee Titans Draft Oklahoma TE Jaren Kanak No. 225 in the 2026 NFL Draft
Oklahoma TE Jaren Kanak closes out the Titans’ 2026 draft class, and he seems like the kind of guy special teams coordinator Bones Fassel will be excited about adding.
The Tennessee Titans 2026 draft class was capped off in the seventh round by the selection of Oklahoma LB-turned-TE Jaren Kanak.
Grading TE Jaren Kanak to the Titans
For his first three seasons at Oklahoma, Kanak was a linebacker. He transitioned to defense after being a run and gun, Taysom Hill-style quarterback in high school. He’s the kind of high-end twitched-up athlete that programs simply want around so they can try stuff with him. His testing speaks for itself.
In his fourth and final year of college, he tried out in the spring to swap back to offense, and things went well. He told us Saturday he felt he’d hit a bit of a wall on the defensive side of the ball and wanted to get back to the side he played in high school. He became a tight end and put up over 500 yards of offense on 44 catches in 2025.
He’s got natural ball skills, but his route running and blocking skills are very much unpolished. He seems like the kind of player who Titans special teams coordinator Bones Fassell is probably jacked up to bring in. Kanak told us via Zoom he plans on coming in and impacting this team as a special teamer out of the gate, as he continues to work on his offensive polish.
Every 7th round pick in this class is going to struggle to make a roster. Adding an untapped-potential natural on offense who has high-level athletic traits is perfectly fine by be. If he can contribute as a special teamer, he might stick and grow.
