“I wanna put my name in the hat” – Titans legend wants chance to honor Coach Mac as next Titans radio analyst
The Tennessee Titans community lost an irreplaceable voice in Coach Dave McGinnis, who passed away in April. ‘Coach Mac’ was the heartbeat of Titans radio and a former player wants a chance to fill his shoes.
The Tennessee Titans organization, fan base, and Nashville community lost one of its best people in former NFL coach Dave McGinnis on April 13 at the age of 74.
The NFL Draft has come and gone, the teams are ready for the offseason programs, but Titans Radio has an irreplaceable hole to fill in McGinnis. One former Titans legend wants to throw his name in contention for the job.
‘Coach Mac’ served as the Titans Radio game day color analyst since the 2017 season, and became a staple across the radio airwaves, community events, and his “Mac dinners” around the city.
Enter Keith Bulluck.
The former Titans linebacker and first round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft by the franchise has spoken up on his YouTube podcast channel “Bullseye View” when he saw he was left out of some options by Paul Kuharsky to follow McGinnis.
“Yo, how am I not a candidate?” Bulluck said in his authentic New York style. “I didn’t even get an honorable mention. Like, come on. So I guess I wasn’t in the running.”
Early names to watch for Titans Radio Analyst?
In a social media video Kuharsky listed a few really solid names to keep an eye on as options to be next to Taylor Zarzour moving forward.
Jason McCourty, Logan Ryan, and Brad Hopkins all former Titans, and all have broadcast experience at high levels. Kuharsky thinks Hopkins is who the team will eventually hire, as McCourty and Ryan don’t live in the area. McCourty is part of a CBS NFL broadcast booth that would be difficult ($$$) to pull him away.
Keith Bulluck would be a great addition to Titans Radio
Back to Bulluck, and I agree with both he and Kuharsky: a former Titans player is a must with this hire.
“I want to put my name in the hat,” Bulluck continued. “The Titans are gonna do what they need to do for business and however it works. But if I’m putting my name in the hat. I gotta put in a bid.I got 25 years of knowledge, Titans knowledge, personal relationships, two time community, (Franchise) Man of the Year. I still got businesses within the community. Yo, my kids friends say I got aura. So I’m in touch with the young crowd. You know what I’m saying?
“At the end of the day, I respect the I respect the flag, I respect the organization, and I’m an original Titan, it could get no better than that. So I guess that’s my bid.
“It doesn’t matter who it is, at least should be somebody from the Titans organization, somebody that’s going to represent come in, and what they have to know is Coach Mac cannot be replaced. They have to bring somebody in that is just going to do, do their own thing, you know, and make the Titans program Great.”
I would consider it a big win if Titans Radio hires any of those four former players mentioned. All are very professional, have entertaining personalities, and most of all, all four of those were involved in the community when here. For Bulluck and Hopkins, they still do and always have.
The only timeline to find someone to follow Coach Mac is the season. I know all of our friends at Titans Radio, the franchise, and 104.5 The Zone are still very much missing their Coach.
