It’s Victory Monday for the 3-3-1 Dallas Cowboys, and though a 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders is good enough, the team just got another massive win without playing a down of football.

The Cowboys are opening linebacker DeMarvion Overshown’s 21-day practice window this week, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Overshown teased the news Monday morning when he posted “T-21” on social media.

The decision will allow Overshown to practice with the team, even though he’s still on Injured Reserve. The Cowboys have 21 days to move him from the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) to the 53-man roster. If they don’t, Overshown would land on season-ending Injured Reserve.

So, when is DeMarvion Overshown playing again?

Though no decision is official yet, it sounds like the Cowboys are aiming for a Week 11 return. The timetable would fit Overshown’s now active three-week practice window and the team’s bye in Week 10. Three weeks from now, the Cowboys will be resting after matchups versus the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals.

Following a Week 10 bye, the Cowboys will travel to Las Vegas to face the Raiders, when Overshown is likely to be on the 53-man roster. The timing is promising as the Raiders matchup could be the perfect opportunity for him to ramp up before the toughest stretch in Dallas’ 2025 schedule.

After visiting Las Vegas, this is what the Cowboys will be up against:

  1. vs. Philadelphia Eagles
  2. vs. Kansas City Chiefs
  3. @ Detroit Lions
  4. vs. Minnesota Vikings
  5. vs. Los Angeles Chargers
  6. at Washington Commanders

Getting Overshown back will be huge for a Cowboys defense in desperate need of better linebacker play. Dallas has struggled against the run and pass in large part because of what’s going on in the second level of the defense. Kenneth Murray has struggled, and though rookie Shemar James has been promising, there are still growing pains for the fifth-round pick.

If healthy, Overshown is a game-changer on defense. Fortunately, there appears to be a target date in place for the talented linebacker.
