New NFL Draft intel reveals smoke surrounding Commanders’ first-round move could be real with latest top-30 visit prospect
The Washington Commanders could shake up the first round of the NFL Draft if they pull off one move, which is becoming more popular by the day, especially with their most recent top-30 visit.
The 2026 NFL Draft is just around the corner, and the Washington Commanders are doing their homework to finalize their big board before they’re on the clock.
They’ve been meeting with the top prospects in the draft at the NFL Scouting Combine, Pro Days, and even top-30 in Ashburn. The Commanders have to make a difficult decision on who to pick at No. 7 overall, or they can shake up the whole draft.
Their most recent top-30 visit definitely adds fuel to the fire regarding one move they could make in the first round.
The Washington Commanders are hosting WR Chris Brazzell II on a top-30 visit
It’s no surprise that the Washington Commanders are still looking for a top WR after missing on Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs in free agency. They’ve shown a strong interest in WR Carnell Tate as a target with the No. 7 overall pick, but also recently looked at trade-back targets.
Omar Cooper Jr. was added to the list this week as a mid-first round target, but now, they’re looking at Chris Brazzell II, who is a different type of WR.
Cooper Jr. would be a top slot WR option, while Brazzell II would be the WR2 on the opposite side of the field to Terry McLaurin, and possibly even his successor.
Why the Washington Commanders should draft WR Chris Brazzell II
If the Commanders do trade back, they could address another position and collect a second-round pick, which they are currently missing. That second-round pick could be used on WR Chris Brazzell II, who is currently projected to go anywhere from No. 40 overall to No. 55 overall.
Brazzell II is a lengthy 6-5, 200-pound WR who is more than just size. He dominated college football last season with 1,006 yards, nine touchdowns, and averaged 16.5 yards per catch. Brazzell II can stretch the field, and he was the deadliest deep-route WR in the country.
Brazzell II could be an excellent deep threat for the Washington Commanders and stretch the field in David Blough’s offensive scheme. He’s more than just a vertical threat, too, and his route running and movement are much better than expected at his size.
I could see Brazzell II being a legit WR2 in the NFL as a rookie, and don’t be surprised if he’s on the Commanders’ radar after his top-30 visit. The Commanders have to collect a top-50 pick by trading back if they want him, though.
