Seahawks signing a familiar face to two-year deal
A reunion for Seattle and a boost for the defensive line.
The Seattle Seahawks are reuniting with defensive tackle Jarran Reed.
Per NFL Media's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Reed is coming back to Seattle on a two-year deal.
The deal has a max value of $10.8 million.
Reed, a second-round pick by the Seahawks in 2016, spent the first five years of his career in Seattle. He registered 22 sacks in 63 starts for the team from 2016-20.
This is not the first two-year deal Reed has signed with the Seahawks. The club extended the former Alabama defensive lineman to a two-year, $23 million deal in the 2020 offseason.
Reed was cut by Seattle in almost exactly a year later in 2021 and subsequently signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Reed gave the Chiefs 17 starts and recorded 2.5 sacks.
This past season, Reed joined the Green Bay Packers and notched the same number of sacks.
Now 30 years old, Reed is returning to the franchise who gave him his start in the league and will be paired with Dre'Mont Jones. The Seahawks also cut ties with Shelby Harris and Quinton Jefferson.
