The Florida State Seminoles just lost a recruit, one that they were actually relying on in terms of their roster construction.
The edge position is looking a bit shaky right now for the Noles when it comes to the future of the position. This 2026 class desperately needs one. They have a few defensive lineman committed in this class, some who could probably play the edge position, but they really need a guy who is an edge.
And, they had their eye on one recently.
Seminoles lose out on Katrell Webb
Katrell Webb, a three-star defensive end from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, was a guy that the Noles were following closely, and actually really wanted. He's a pretty good player, too, so don't let the three-star status fool you, because that's easy to do these days in this era of college football.
Recently, he committed to Purdue for their 2026 class on July 12. He chose Purdue over offers from Florida State and Indiana, and even some other schools you could put above the Boilermakers. At 6’3” and 235 pounds, Webb is an athletic edge rusher who wins with speed and technical abilities. His commitment strengthens Purdue’s 2026 recruiting class, which has 19 pledges, as new coach Barry Odom works to rebuild the team after a 1-11 season in 2024.
But, it leaves the Noles looking for answers at the position.
For now, all of the top recruits that Florida State was pursuing, like Jake Kreul, seem to all be going in different directions from the Seminoles. Now, they could always play the transfer portal game when the next one comes around, or they could try to push for some flips, but there are questions at the position and how they continue to recruit it.
If this offseason has taught us anything, though, it's that Norvell will come up with something, as the Seminoles have been hot as of late, and find themselves with a top 15 class.
