One of the biggest breakout stars of the 2024 season was South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers. The dual-threat was only in his redshirt freshman season, but he took the SEC by storm. As if rising to one of the top playmakers in the nation wasn't enough last year, hopes are high for Sellers entering 2025.

Building on a year where he completed 65.6% of attempts for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, plus added 674 yards and seven scores on the ground, it won't be easy. But it could land him in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft and in New York as a Heisman Trophy contender.

He added some fuel to the hype fire on Monday. At SEC Media Day, he delivered a gem of a quote after being asked about whether he would race his teammate, Nyck Harbor. Harbor is in a good position to be the first-ever three-time No. 1 player on Bruce Feldman's annual "Freaks List".

That won't stop Sellers from racing the 6-foot-5, 242-pounder who is a second-team All-American track star in the 100 and 200-meter races.

"I'd race Nyck. I'd race him pads or without pads," Sellers said after considering his words carefully. But would he win? Sellers had to add a qualifier on that.

"If it's 40 yards or so, I might have him. Anything longer than that, he definitely got it. He's a 100-meter guy."

Sellers, also massive at 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds, is fast but not nearly that fast. He's been projected to run closer to a 4.6 40-yard dash, while Harbor should be in the 4.4 range. Reaching 20.8 mph is impressive, but not fast enough to beat out someone who is ahead of his peers despite being 70 pounds heavier than everyone else on the track.
