5-star WR Easton Royal gives strong reaction to insider predicting that he’s going to flip from Texas to LSU
The LSU Tigers are battling to flip 2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal from the Texas Longhorns.
On3’s Sam Spiegelman predicted on Thursday that 2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal will flip from the Texas Longhorns to the LSU Tigers.
Royal, a New Orleans native, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation. He’s been committed to Texas since last November.
LSU has been working for months to flip Royal from Texas.
“A final decision could come as late as December, but based on recent conversations, I expect a verdict in this recruitment to arrive around September or October,” wrote Spiegelman. “Kiffin and the Tigers are certainly intent on recruiting the state’s No. 1 prospect until the end, and I’ve logged a Rivals RPM forecast for them to eventually get it done.”
Royal quickly took to Twitter to react to the prediction.
“How does this work if i haven’t [talked to] anyone about recruiting,” tweeted Royal.
The general feeling is that Royal will eventually land at LSU. But at the same time, I don’t believe he’s made that final decision yet, so I certainly understand his response here.
I also understand Spiegelman making a prediction — especially since he said he doesn’t expect anything to happen for another couple of months. He’s simply predicting how he thinks this will eventually play out.
Spiegelman noted that Royal is planning to take gameday visits to Texas, Florida, and LSU this fall before making a final decision.
