Aaron Rodgers is going to be welcomed by the Pittsburgh Steelers brass when he finally joins the team.

But prior to the comments from the key three (Tomlin, Rooney, Khan) Cam Heyward generated some headlines with his take on Rodgers

And now, another Steelers defensive lineman has spoken up about potentially playing with Rodgers.

Only he hasn't played a game for the Black and Gold yet, and he was a little more welcoming than Heyward initially was..

Daniel Ekuale wants to play with Aaron Rodgers

“I feel like he’s still got some fire underneath him,” Ekuale said on the “Chipped Ham & Football” podcast from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. “I feel like last year with the Achilles injury, I feel like he’s going to bounce back big this year. So me playing against him, he is very elite, on that level. Knowing defenses and making checks, all this stuff that all these offenses know. So I feel like with A-Rod, man, I just hope the Steelers get him…

"…I let him escape out of the pocket one time and kind of underestimated him,” Ekuale said. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t know this dude still got it in him after that Achilles injury he had.’ But yeah, I think A-Rod still got it in him.”

Ekuale was signed a few weeks ago as part of the latter stages of Pittsburgh's free-agent moves. A veteran who spent the last four years with the New England Patriots, he figures to fit in as a solid depth piece among the Steelers' defensive tackle rotation.

What is certain is that he is excited to play for the Steelers, and especially with Aaron Rodgers, who at this point, feels like a done deal even if the pen has yet to be put to paper.

“The Minnesota Vikings, is [Rodgers] waiting them out? That is sort of a lingering question out there, but when I talked to people with the Vikings, this is all but dead for them, essentially,” ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler recently said on SportsCenter. “Maybe if he’s available later in the summer, they would revisit, but just seems unlikely at this point. So it’s Steelers, retirement or bust.”

Could the announcement happen as soon as Wednesday, April 9th?

What about the weekend of the draft?

We'll find out soon enough.
