Tennessee Vols edge rusher Joshua Josephs, a rising senior, made a comment this past week that all UT football fans will greatly appreciate.

Josephs, a former four-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2022 recruiting cycle, has been moderately productive during his first three seasons on Rocky Top, totaling 71 tackles and 5.5 sacks so far during his career as a Vol.

The Georgia native, however, is expected to play a bigger role in Tennessee's defense in 2025 with dominant edge rusher James Pearce heading to the NFL.

Last week, Josephs was asked by a reporter what he would need to accomplish in 2025 to be able to look at himself as an "amazing guy with an amazing story".

Josephs didn't point to any individual accomplishments. Instead, he simply pointed out that winning a national championship at Tennessee is what it would take for him to say that his story has been "good".

"I don't know how I could answer that because I don't know what it would take," said Josephs. "Really, I don't know what it would be until I feel accomplished. If we win that natty, when we win that natty, then I'll say my story's been good."

If you're a Tennessee fan, you absolutely have to love hearing that comment from Josephs. That's the kind of mindset that an entire team needs to have in order to win a national championship. The individual accolades will come if players stay focused on winning as a team. But if the individual accolades become the main focus, you can forget about winning a natty.

Josephs has a chance in 2025 to boost his NFL draft stock and prove that he's a premier pass rusher. His focus, however, is on bringing a natty back to Knoxville. And that's something all Vols fans can greatly appreciate.
