One of the worst-kept secrets around he league was the Giants' interest to trade back into round one for a QB. And for the past couple of days, the rumored QB they had their sights set on was Jaxson Dart. They were able to make those rumors come true by trading a second and third rounder this year and a third in 2026 to the Houston Texans for pick 25.

Dart began his career at USC, where he played in six games in 2021. He transferred to Ole Miss ahead of the 2022 season and started 13 games in each of the last three years. His best collegiate season came last year, when he set new career highs with 4,279 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.

He led the SEC in passing yards and with a 69.3 completion percentage. He led the entire FBS with 10.8 yards per attempt and 15.5 yards gained per pass completion. Dart is always looking for a big play, and he is now paired with Malik Nabers. He won't be the starter week one, but the Giants clearly view Dart as their future franchise QB. And to get him by only giving up two-thirds to move up from the second round is incredible value.

The bigger shocker for some will be that Dart was selected over Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, who the team also did a ton of work on. Some may be confused about it, but the Giants showed with this pick that Dart was their preference. The Giants leave the first round with Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart. This feels like a big win for the team and the fan base.

Jaxson Dart Scouting Report

Quarterback, Ole Miss

Hometown:
Draper, UT

21 years old (05/13/2003)

A to Z Sports Expected Draft Position: 37

Pre-Draft Round Projection: 2

"Jaxson Dart undeniably put together the most efficient passing profile among all quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class over the last two seasons. He finished ranked inside the Top 3 in yards per play, total yards per game, adjusted yards per pass attempt, EPA per play, and scheme adjusted pass efficiency last season, dominating the vast majority of teams he played with his arm. There are some concerns given the scheme that he played in with Ole Miss. Rebels' head coach Lane Kiffin simplifies things for his quarterbacks with shorter play calls, giving them plenty of answers pre and post-snap to find the right open wide receiver. With that said, Dart far exceeded any expectations within the already QB-friendly scheme. His creativity, deep passing game success, accuracy, and ability to add value with his legs makes him a worthy early-round quarterback." – Travis May, A to Z Sports NFL Draft analyst
