The Georgia Bulldogs could be in danger of losing a key 2026 four-star commit.

2026 four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford has been committed to Georgia since last November, but that hasn't stopped other programs from pursuing the California native.

According to Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, the Miami Hurricanes are becoming a "very serious and real contender" for Spafford.

Spafford recently took a visit to Miami that reportedly went very well.

From Rivals.com: The four-star receiver from Mission Viejo, Calif., has been committed to Georgia since November, but Miami is becoming a very serious and real contender in his recruitment. Spafford had a great visit to Coral Gables recently where it felt like a “real family” and he loved the people there. The Hurricanes along with USC, UCLA and others should be watched.

Spafford, 5-foot-11/175 lbs from Mission Viejo, CA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 10 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 11 player in the state of California. He's also rated as the No. 74 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Scouting report via 247Sports: Highly productive WR who smashed all the single season receiving records for perennial state power Mission Viejo as a sophomore. Having a strong sophomore track season as well with multiple sub 11.0-100m times with a personal best 10.69 on (3/30/24). Is both quick and fast, plays out wide and in the slot, can stretch the field, is very good after the catch and has great hands. Strong body allows him to beat press, win contested catches and routinely breaks 1-2 tackles in the open field. Explosive route runner and has dominated the off-season 7v7 circuit playing for CA Power. Just knows how to get open, has excellent ball awareness and has the skills to be dangerous in the return game as well. High Power 4 prospect and the has the talent to play for any college in the country.

This is a player that Georgia definitely wants to hold on to, but it clearly won't be easy.

The Bulldogs will get a chance to solidify their relationship with Spafford when the talented wide receiver returns to Athens for an official visit in June.
