Former NFL backup quarterback Chase Daniels is taking a lot of heat after completely snubbing Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts from his Top 10 quarterback list during a recent FOX Sports 1 segment.
"There are only four guys that I would take to start a franchise with," Daniels said. "Quite honestly, there's more than four guys who I would take to start a franchise with over Jalen Hurts today. Because of that, I can't sit here and say I want to start a franchise with Jalen Hurts. He's not in the top 9 or 10."
If Daniels doesn’t believe Hurts is a top-10 quarterback, that’s his opinion — but he’s mistaken.
Hurts offers everything a coach and teammates could want in a quarterback on and off the field, starting with his dual-threat abilities and leadership.
And then there are Hurts' stats that can't be argued with and some that are hard to touch.
Below are some notable NFL records that Hurts has broken since entering the league in 2020:
- Most Rushing Touchdowns by a QB in a Single Season: In 2023, Hurts scored 15 rushing touchdowns, surpassing Cam Newton's 2011 record of 14 TDs.
- Most Rushing Touchdowns by a QB in Postseason History: Hurts currently holds the record with nine rushing touchdowns in playoff games.
- Longest Postseason Streak Without an Interception: Hurts has gone seven straight postseason games with at least 20 pass attempts and zero interceptions, marking the longest such streak in NFL history.
- Highest Career Completion Percentage in the Super Bowl: Hurts boasts a 73.3% completion rate in Super Bowl appearances, the highest in league history, per Pro Football Reference.
- Most Rushing Yards by a QB in a Super Bowl: Hurts set the record with 72 rushing yards in Super Bowl LIX for an NFL QB, surpassing his previous record.
Of course, one can't leave out that Hurts is an MVP and Super Bowl LIX winner. He has also earned two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro nod.
For Daniels to keep Hurts out of his Top 10 is a big and silly mistake.
