Oklahoma Sooners fail to flip big-time prospect after leading the charge for quite some time
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to try and prove everyone wrong in 2025, but while that's going on, they're still recruiting for future classes. Their 2026 class isn't anywhere near finished, and they already have a good group of guys committed. They almost added another one, a four-star at that, to their 2026 class, but […]

They almost added another one, a four-star at that, to their 2026 class, but were beaten out by an ACC school. However, it wasn't really because Oklahoma wasn't doing anything right, well, that's how it feels when you put the pieces together.
Sooners lose out on Ryelan Morris to Stanford
Ryelan Morris really had the Oklahoma Sooners and their fan base thinking they were about to land him, and they probably were, but things changed, as they do so often in this sport. Morris is a four-star running back from Honey Grove, Texas, where we know the Sooners recruit well. At 5'10" and 180 pounds, he’s a versatile athlete.
No, really, he is listed as a running back on some sites, and a wide receiver on others, because he can play either. His sophomore year was a breakout, with 1,681 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, averaging 140.1 yards per game.
He initially committed to Baylor on July 27, 2024. However, after visiting Oklahoma a few times, five to be exact, many thought that he was leaning towards the Sooners, and actually, most thought that would be the team he ended up committing to. But things change in college football. The Sooners have since added several guys who can play the wide receiver position and running back position for the next few years.
Morris committed to Stanford earlier this week, flipping from Baylor. Stanford’s recruiting push, led by Andrew Luck, the former Indianapolis Colts QB, won him over. He’s ranked No. 192 overall, No. 17 among running backs, and No. 26 in Texas per On3.
With offers from Oregon, Oklahoma, USC, SMU, Miami, and Texas Tech, his talent is undeniable. At Stanford, he can have a shot at playing more at an earlier time in his career.
