Jordan Love had a good idea of what was going to happen. Even though it was impossible to know for sure what veteran Aaron Rodgers would ultimately decide, Love had a strong feeling that his old teammate wouldn't retire, and the Pittsburgh Steelers were an obvious option.

Now that Rodgers officially signed a one-year deal to play for the Steelers, he is slated to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in Week 8.

In an interview with Channel 3000's Jason Wilde, Love shared his first reaction after Rodgers' signing.

"I was excited for A-Rod,” Love revealed. “I don't think I was too surprised. I feel like there were a lot of rumors going on throughout the whole offseason about him going to the Steelers. I was excited for him, that he was obviously coming back and going to be playing. There were also some rumors that he might be done, so just knowing he’s going to keep playing, that’s pretty awesome.”

The chance to play against Aaron Rodgers will be special for Jordan Love. The Packers QB backed up Rodgers throughout his first three seasons in the NFL. Now, they are expected to compete against each other for the first time.

And this will excite Packers fans: Love wants a jersey exchange.

"It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be awesome,” Love added. "I’m excited for it. I can’t wait to be on different sides meeting up and I know we’ll talk pregame and things like that and hopefully we can exchange jerseys after.”

New experience

At 41, Aaron Rodgers will play for his third team in the NFL. After 18 years in Green Bay, he spent two seasons with the New York Jets — which included almost a full year lost with an Achilles injury and a 5-12 record in 2024.

Released by the Jets in March, Rodgers became a free agent for the first time in his career. And after months evaluating his options, the quarterback signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Steelers. The deal can go up to $19.5 million via incentives.
