The Tennessee Vols are one of the programs hoping to land a commitment from 2027 four-star safety Kennedy Green.
Green, 6-foot-2/195 lbs from Douglasville, Ga., is rated by 247Sports as the No. 16 safety in the nation and the No. 17 player in the state of Georgia. He's also rated as the No. 157 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
The four-star defensive back committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs last November, but he backed off that commitment earlier this month.
Tennessee was instantly named as a program to watch for Green after his decommitment from Mississippi State.
"South Carolina and Tennessee could end up battling it out for him with North Carolina and Florida State as two others to definitely watch as things pick up again in his recruitment," noted Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney on Monday.
The Michigan Wolverines are also expected to be a factor in Green's recruitment moving forward.
Green, in fact, told 247Sports late last month that Michigan is one of his "dream schools".
There's still a long way to go in Green's recruitment, but it sounds like Tennessee is going to be a major factor in the battle for the Georgia native.
The Vols don't have any players committed to their 2027 recruiting class.
