The Michigan Wolverines are intensifying their recruiting efforts for 2026 four-star linebacker Brayden Rouse, a top-100 prospect from Cornelius, North Carolina. Rouse has emerged as a priority target for head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff. 

Despite stiff competition from SEC powerhouses Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas, Michigan is making significant strides in showcasing why Ann Arbor could be the ideal destination for the 6-foot-2, 215-pound standout. 

Rouse’s recent official visit to Michigan left a strong impression, with the Wolverines emphasizing their vision for his role both on the field and within their program’s culture.

Rouse, ranked as the No. 70 overall prospect and No. 7 linebacker in the 2026 class by the On3 Industry Ranking, has been a focal point for Michigan’s recruiting strategy. 

During his visit, the Wolverines’ coaching staff, led by linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, highlighted how Rouse’s versatile skill set aligns perfectly with their defensive scheme. “The staff in Ann Arbor feels Brayden is a perfect fit on and off the field,” a source close to the program noted, underscoring the belief that Rouse’s athleticism and character make him an ideal addition to the team. 

Jean-Mary, who previously coached at Tennessee, detailed how Rouse could thrive as a three-down linebacker, capable of impacting the game in coverage, run defense, and as a pass rusher.

The visit itself was a testament to Michigan’s commitment to building a personal connection with Rouse. “Michigan continues to impress me,” Rouse told On3’s Chad Simmons, reflecting on the warm reception he received. He spent significant time with Jean-Mary and head coach Sherrone Moore, who outlined a clear path for his development. 

“I got to learn more about what they want to do with me as a player,” Rouse shared, noting the staff’s emphasis on his potential to become a cornerstone of the Wolverines’ defense. As Rouse weighs his options, he remains open to all four schools but acknowledged Michigan’s rising stock. “I’m still considering everything, but Michigan definitely made a big impact,” he said.
