George Pickens tries to flip the script on how things ended with the Pittsburgh Steelers in a now-deleted social media post

George Pickens has been anything but quiet since being traded to the Dallas Cowboys.

He's clearly enthralled to be in a new situation, but he hasn't forgotten about his time with the Steelers.

And in his latest comments (which have now been deleted) Pickens came of very much as "You can't fire me, I quit." Except, that's not how it went down…

George Pickens said he was the one who orchestrated a trade

“I forced buddy. They were gladly keeping me… have a nice day and a blessed one my guy," Pickens said in a now deleted post. Some were skeptical that was his actual Twitter-X profile, but Pickens posted the exact same thing on his 100% confirmed Instagram account before also deleting it.

Here's the thing, maybe Pickens catalyzed things when he unfollowed the Steelers on social media a few weeks back, but Pittsburgh was thinking about life after Pickens for some time now.

George Pickens was always going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler in 2025—until they received the right offer. In their minds, a round three pick from Dallas was that offer. For the past year, the rhetoric coming from the Steelers front office has been about addition in the WR room, not subtraction.

But George Pickens tested their patience. If not for a strong relationship with Mike Tomlin, he likely would have been gone a long time ago due to his immaturity. Repeatedly being late to practice, team meetings, even chartered flights, Pickens has yet to fully grasp the professional aspect of the NFL, according to league sources.

And after taking a shot at Mike Tomlin with the public press, and now reposting something that is fabricated to say the least, I think Pickens is still struggling with that professional aspect.

But hey, maybe a new team, in the final year of his rookie deal, with uncertainty surrounding his NFL future, makes him realize that he's on a short leash.

But if he couldn't figure it out in Pittsburgh of all places, hard to imagine he does that with the Dallas Cowboys.
