The Georgia Bulldogs appear to be in a serious danger of losing a key four-star commit to an ACC program.

2026 four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford has been committed to Georgia since early November, but the Miami Hurricanes are pushing hard to flip the talented recruit.

Miami, in fact, might be "atop his recruiting list right now" according to Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney.

"The Hurricanes might actually be atop his recruiting list right now ahead of visits where Spafford will see Washington, UCLA, USC, Georgia and Miami before making a final decision," noted Gorney this week. "He loves South Florida and so that could be a compelling draw on top of NIL and everything else."

Spafford, 5-foot-11/175 lbs from Mission Viejo, CA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 9 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 11 player in the state of California. He's also rated as the No. 75 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Scouting report via 247Sports: Highly productive WR who smashed all the single season receiving records for perennial state power Mission Viejo as a sophomore. Having a strong sophomore track season as well with multiple sub 11.0-100m times with a personal best 10.69 on (3/30/24). Is both quick and fast, plays out wide and in the slot, can stretch the field, is very good after the catch and has great hands. Strong body allows him to beat press, win contested catches and routinely breaks 1-2 tackles in the open field. Explosive route runner and has dominated the off-season 7v7 circuit playing for CA Power. Just knows how to get open, has excellent ball awareness and has the skills to be dangerous in the return game as well. High Power 4 prospect and the has the talent to play for any college in the country.

Georgia recently lost a recruiting battle to Miami for 2026 five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell. The last thing the Bulldogs want to do is lose one of the top wide receiver recruits in the nation to Miami, too.
