It's been a number of weeks since Aaron Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee Show, citing personal reasons behind the delay in his football decision.
Earlier this week, he sat down with Joe Rogan to talk a variety of topics, including his future.
In doing so, we received more details on Roidgers' personal situation.
Aaron Rodgers taking care of sick family member
"I've figured it out during the last year when I've been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer," Rodgers said.
"I'm taking care of my people right now, and I'm taking care of my personal life responsibilities, and I'm keeping the conversation open as well," he added. "I'm in a serious relationship. I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention. I have personal commitments I have made. I have a couple of people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff. So, I have a lot of things that are taking my attention."
I know that Aaron Rodgers draws a lot of polarization and differences in opinion among people, but respecting his decision and current situation should be commonplace during this time, regardless of how he is viewed.
And to be clear, even if Rodgers wasn’t dealing with said situation, there should never have been a reason to believe he would have signed with the Steelers by now. Since when has Rodgers ever been interested in OTAs? Which start next week for Pittsburgh.
Add in the fact that he's dealing with this, and signing somewhere down the line, whether that's as soon as after OTAs or as late as during training camp seems like a more realistic scenario, and one that many people who know Rodgers well are expecting to happen.
"I'm pretty sure they [Pittsburgh Steelers] know what they are doing, I'm sure they're confident in what they're doing," Green Bay Packers HC Matt LaFleur told Kay Adams of the Up and Adams show. "And I would fully expect him to be a Pittsburgh Steeler."
