The Oklahoma Sooners have known their schedule for months now, but they didn't know when they would play most of their opponents.
That changed on Thursday, as several TV times for the Sooners' games were announced. Notably, the Red River Rivalry will kick off at 2:30. However, they get a prime opportunity to make an early statement to set the tone for their season when they square off against the Michigan Wolverines.
If current trends hold, then freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, one of the biggest quarterback recruits of all time, will have his first road start ever in the nighttime lights in Norman.
Against the returning talent that the Sooners have on defense, led by the mad scientist himself, Brent Venables, that feels like a prime opportunity to put an emphatic win on the season in primetime against a team that has plenty of analysts optimistic about their future outlook.
While I don't share that same outlook, considering all the losses Michigan suffered in the offseason and too many question marks returning, it's still a team that the Sooners can't afford to be too cocky about facing and should be wary.
Many people have been a tad skeptical of Oklahoma, with their win total barely being higher than what they finished with in 2024, but this is a team that returns a lot of talent and has upgraded everywhere.
If the Sooners can come out with a strong win in this Week 2 matchup, it can help set the tone for a resurgent 2025 season after a dismal 2024. As Oklahoma looks to close out its 2026 recruiting class on a high note, wins like that over Michigan will only help their cause.
After years of games starting at 11 AM, it's nice to see the Sooners in primetime slots.
