Four-star Dre Quinn commits to Clemson
According to Hayes Fawcett, four-star EDGE Dre Quinn has committed to Clemson. He chose Clemson over the Texas Longhorns. The Tigers' defense just got a bit stronger for the future.
“When I was on my official visit to Clemson earlier this summer, I told coach Rumph that I was going to be a Tiger and I want to honor my word,” — Dre Quinn via On3
After a delayed commitment from Quinn, Clemson has come out victorious over a Longhorns group that is expected to be right alongside the Tigers this season when it comes to the national spotlight. Both are heavily expected to be contenders in the College Football Playoff.
Quinn is the second EDGE rusher to commit to the Tigers for their 2026 class, along with JR Hardrick. Clemson has nineteen verbal commitments for the class as of now, one of the most populated classes in the country.
I talked to Ryan Roberts about the recent vibes from Quinn's recruitment. It's felt like a bit of a rollercoaster, but there is a bit of clarity now.
A bizzarre recruitment for Quinn
It has been a bizarre last week for 2026 Buford (Ga.) High School pass rusher Dre Quinn, who was previously expected to take an official visit to Notre Dame last weekend. The talented defender ended up cancelling that trip, and the Fighting Irish were seemingly out of the running. Things got even weirder after that.
After some rumors that Quinn may be taking a midweek official visit to South Bend, the Georgia native opted instead to set a commitment date for June 19th.
There appears to have been some pressure from Quinn’s family to try and take that trip to South Bend, with some very pro Notre Dame people being in his support system. In the end, the family wanted Notre Dame more than Quinn. He has made the decision to decide between his two finalists instead, and defy his family’s wishes.

We will see if the Tigers can hold this commitment with Quinn. If they can, he can be a major piece to their defensive line for season to come in the future. That unit is expected to be a massive strength for the roster this season for Swinney's team.
