Peyton Manning knows a thing or two about winning quarterback play in the NFL.
He also knows a thing or two about Aaron Rodgers, seeing as their careers overlapped for a while.
And now, he is using that experience and knowledge to share what he thinks about Rodgers in Pittsburgh…
Peyton Manning excited to see Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh
“I'm excited for Aaron. It's a good opportunity, Manning said on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday. There's no substitute for experience, and what Aaron can do to help these receivers is significant. I think the whole team needs to do their part as well. The defense needs to be the Pittsburgh Steelers, you're probably not expecting him to go out and score 40 points every week. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully, this is a good chapter for him and he can finish strong if it is his last year. Hopefully, Aaron takes that energy and goes out and plays really well this season.”
The key in Manning's quote here is what he said about the defense. It's part of the reason why all that discourse on T.J. Watt being traded feels like a bunch of hoopla.
The Steelers just traded for Jalen Ramsey to better their secondary. One could say keeping Minkah could have helped, but they also got Rodgers a Pro Bowl weapon. Their entire 2025 draft strategy was built on retooling their defense. They re-signed DeShon Elliott before his contract was even up.
So to think they would trade away, the one player that brings it all together. The glue of their defense is, in my opinion, insane. Manning is exactly right when he says Rodgers and the team have to have the Steelers defense…Be the Steelers defense.
Because if they are, then there is a real chance the football in Pittsburgh will be very exciting.
