The New York Giants' much-needed spending on defense just increased.

After signing cornerback Paulson Adebo to a three-year deal worth $54 million, GM Joe Schoen shifted his attention to the trenches by signing defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris.

Robertson-Harris is signing a two-year deal worth $10 million, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

An eight-year veteran, Robertson-Harris' best football is probably behind him at 31 years old. However, he provides experience and reliability to a defense in which he'll play alongside Dexter Lawrence. The last time he missed a game was in 2021 and he can provide a starting-caliber player if needed, which is something the Giants sincerely lacked even though they could still aim for an upgrade.

Though he isn't the household name that will change the face of the Giants defense, there isn't much to write home about when it comes to the team's defensive line, particularly in the interior.

With 117 NFL games under his belt, Robertson-Harris provides value even if it's just as part of a rotation featuring more players. With that being said, defensive line remains a strong need for the Giants, who have never really recovered from trading away Leonard Williams. Edge rusher could still be addressed too, considering Azeez Ojulari is likely not returning.

Robertson-Harris went undrafted in 2016 before joining the Chicago Bears, where he played the first four years of his career. He later signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2021 to 2024 before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks halfway through last season.

According to Over the Cap, the Giants still have $44.3 million in available cap space. You can expect them to use it on both sides of the ball but so far the priority has been on defense. Quarterback is an option but time is running out to make an impact move at the position with Justin Fields and Sam Darnold coming off the table.
