The Kansas City Chiefs are at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, as they get to know the best of the best prospects in the 2025 NFL draft class.
While teams emphasize formal meetings at the combine, outstanding performances in drills and on-field work can skyrocket draft stock for prospects. That was the theme behind the latest three-round mock draft from A to Z Sports before testing at the combine officially begins on Thursday.
Which prospects could vault themselves into the bottom of the first round with a good performance? Here's a look at who the Chiefs picked in the first round of this latest mock draft. . .
Chiefs select West Virginia OT Wyatt Milum with pick No. 31 in latest A to Z Sports mock draft
Listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, Milum is not this draft class's most physically imposing offensive lineman. Where he wins is his mastery of technique and scheme, which allowed him to go three years without surrendering a sack in college. That's even while facing a player like Penn State's Abdul Carter, who could be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The crazy thing is, he's been wildly consistent, too. Earning Freshman All-American honors back in 2021.
Here's what Travis May had to say about the mock draft pick at No. 31:
The left tackle position was a huge topic at the NFL Combine when both Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach were at the podium this week. Joe Thuney will be moving back inside for the Chiefs in 2025 as Kansas City hopefully finds an answer outside. Wyatt Milum could be the best answer at left tackle for them if the Chiefs give him a shot here at pick 31. He played nearly 3,000 snaps at offensive tackle for West Virginia, spending time on both sides of the line. Milum's experience and unbelievable pass protection ability that has helped him not allow a single sack over the past three years is worth a late first-round pick. – A to Z Sports' Travis May
The big question about Milum is whether teams view him as a guard or a tackle in the NFL. The sub-33-inch arms will be problematic for a team like Kansas City, which typically values arm length in tackles. Some seem to believe he'll have to kick inside in the NFL, which certainly wouldn't make him a fit for the Chiefs, as they've got a ton of potential talent at guard and a massive hole at left tackle.
What can you expect from Wyatt Milum at the 2025 NFL Combine?
I don't think Milum will be breaking any records like Xavier Worthy did a season ago. He's already proven to be a scrappy competitor in Mobile, Alabama, at the Reese's Senior Bowl. I'd expect that to also be the name of his game at the combine. If he can get his 40-yard dash time (and hence a good 10-yard split) under the 5.00 mark, along with good agility/explosion scores, he'll turn heads enough to get some consideration at the end of the first round. A to Z Sports' composite database shows a median pick range is pick No. 56.
Who else did the Chiefs take in the latest A to Z Sports three-round mock draft?
63. Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson
66. Kentucky DT Deone Walker
95. Texas TE Gunnar Helm
My grade: B-
The Chiefs need to find a solution at left tackle, and if Milum is that guy, I wouldn't be mad about it. Johnson fills a major need for an explosive playmaker at the running back position, while Walker gives a developing defensive tackle prospect to pair with Chris Jones. Helm is probably the weakest pick of the bunch here, with Travis Kelce expected to return in 2025. I would've liked to have seen a linebacker or cornerback at that spot instead.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid gave a three-word update on DT Chris Jones’ Super Bowl LIX knee injury at 2025 NFL Scouting Combine
Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones did not suffer a major injury in Super Bowl LIX.
