Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill revealed a concerning update on his knee injury rehabilitation, and two of his former Chiefs teammates responded with words of encouragement.

Hill suffered multiple torn knee ligaments and a knee dislocation during Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season. He posted a new video on social media detailing the challenges he continues to face 10 months into his recovery. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce both commented on the post, fueling further speculation about a potential reunion with the free agent receiver.

The 32-year-old Hill has been consistent in documenting his rehab journey on social media. His latest video, however, came with a startling revelation about the severity of his situation. Hill spoke candidly about what his doctors initially told him following the injury.

“You know, they told me I may not be able to walk again,” Hill said. “The doctors were like, ‘Bro, we don’t know what’s going to happen with your future,’ and now look at me.”

While that might sound like an optimistic outlook, the reality is far less encouraging. Hill went on to describe the physical limitations he’s still battling, acknowledging he has been pushing beyond what his rehab team has prescribed.

“I’m doing tempo,” Hill said. “Not supposed to be doing tempo runs, so don’t tell my rehab, but I like to challenge myself a little bit anyway. I’m doing some push-offs with my left leg. My left leg is the one that I injured. I have no power in my left leg at all, so I’m trying to regain all my power back in my left leg.”

Hill’s admission that he has no power in his injured left leg paints a sobering picture for anyone hoping to see the dynamic playmaker back on an NFL field soon. The injury itself required additional surgery on his knee during rehabilitation. At 10 months post-injury, the timeline for a return to football remains unclear.

Former Chiefs teammates show support

When Hill, Mahomes, and Kelce shared the field together in Kansas City, no trio in the NFL was more difficult to stop.

Hill spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Chiefs. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. During that stretch, he became a three-time First Team All-Pro. He also helped Kansas City capture its first Lombardi Trophy of the Mahomes era in Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers.

Hill was traded to the Dolphins ahead of the 2022 NFL season. He spent the past several years in Miami before the team opted to release him. The comments from Mahomes and Kelce on Hill’s latest post have only added fuel to the ongoing speculation about a possible return to Kansas City.

Mahomes, who has been going through an injury rehab of his own, said: “Keep going brotha!”

Hill responded: “Love brother.”

Kelce simply posted a bunch of Cheetah and flame emojis, to which Hill responded: “My guy miss you big guy.”

The truth is that the speculation may be premature. Media members and fans alike have floated the idea of a reunion throughout the offseason. However, Hill’s latest update suggests he is not physically ready to contribute on the field. Before any conversation about a return to the Chiefs can gain real traction, Hill needs to hit more checkpoints in his recovery. He must continue building strength in his injured knee and reach a point where he can perform football-related activities without restriction.

For now, the focus for Hill should remain squarely on rehabilitation and recovery. The support from his former teammates is a welcome sign, but the priority has to be his long-term health. If Hill can regain full strength in that left leg, a reunion with the Chiefs could become a realistic conversation. Until that point, it’s nothing more than a pipe dream.
