The Green Bay Packers is one of the teams interested in signing wide receiver Cooper Kupp, released by the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday. And the latest report on the topic indicates a decision won't take long.

According to Jordan Schultz, an NFL insider for Fox Sports, Kupp doesn't intend to take long to make a final call. It's still unclear if he will visit teams in his free agency process, but a decision is coming soon.

So far, the Packers, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Tennessee Titans have been mentioned as potential landing spots for Kupp. There are also rumors regarding the New England Patriots.

Kupp showed signs of regression last season, and his efficiency numbers haven't been great. At the same time, he was still fairly productive with 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games for the Rams in 2024.

His market is also limited as a consequence of the performance. Spotrac projects that Kupp will get a two-year, $22 million contract ($11 million in yearly average). The profile comparisons are DeAndre Hopkins, Adam Thielen, Robert Woods, and Tyler Lockett. Hopkins signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week.

The downside is real

There are multiple reasons for concern if the Packers truly want Kupp on the roster. He is 31 and hasn't played more than 12 games in a year since his historic 2021 season, when he was the Super Bowl MVP and a First-Team All-Pro.

Kupp still averages a solid number of yards per game, but availability because of multiple injuries is a real concern.

Kupp is still decently effective. Last year, he had 1.99 yards per route run, which is actually better than the number he had in 2023 (1.86), but well below his prime season (3.12) in 2021.

Another point of concern is his fit into the Packers' wide receiver room. Throughout his NFL career, Kupp played 63.4% of his snaps in the slot. And the Packers have Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks to play inside, while the need for a boundary receiver is more evident.

If the price is right, the move can certainly make sense for Green Bay. But with their offer possibly on the table, it's just a matter of waiting for a decision.
